DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILLING

The demographic approach in planning is the consideration of man and population, the object and instrument of development. Thus, an effective development planning requires reliable and comprehensive knowledge in population characteristics particularly the pattern/trends of population growth and distribution, and such other demographic features, which may influence future development. The study in population is therefore a vital step that should be undertaken so that the proper allocation and setting of various needs of the populace can be attained.

The decrease in growth rate from 1990 to 2000 can be attributed to migration brought by the fall of coffee industry and low agricultural production for over a decade. The slight increase in population from 2000 to 2010 can be attributed to housing projects and economic recovery of Amadeo through agri-tourism program.

POPULATION DISTRIBUTION

Total Population by Barangay

The population of the Municipality of Amadeo based on the actual census of NSO year 2007 was from 31,512 to 33,457 on 2010, data below (See Table 3B) presents continuing increase in population.

  Urban-Rural Household Population by Barangay

Amadeo has 26 barangays, composed of 12 barangays in Poblacion (urban) and 14 barangays in barrios, the rural. Amadeo has a lot of spaces for residential expansion because of the infrastructure development (farm to market roads) that provide the opportunity of rural living, it answers the problem of global warming. Increase in the household size from 2007 to 2010 caused by the migration of other family members due to its climate and availability of universities within the province along with the municipal programs to preserve Amadeo as an agricultural and cultural town of Cavite that encourage people to live and enjoy the climate and riparian endowment of the town.

  Male-Female Population by Age-group

Females in all age groups outnumbered their male counterparts reflective of the longer life expectancy of the farmer. A great number of female was observed in their productive year.

  Urbanization Level

Urbanization is not a priority of the people of Amadeo, unlike the neighboring towns, old folks engaged and spend their time in the farm as they have their nipas for a very simple but relaxing stay. Populace working outside the municipality wants their night with quiet and breezing climate to gain their sleeps for the next day of work. Amadeo is strategically located very near to urban communities like Tagaytay and Gen. Trias business district, that’s the reason why people are not in favor to make Amadeo an urbanized one, availability of their needs is a meter far from the municipality . The percentage of urbanization as seen in Table 3F, shows a minute range of rural- urban conversion, 1% per 5 years is noted as all are favor of the municipality to continue being a rural community.
